Korea and Croatia established diplomatic relations in November 1992, following Croatian independence. The relationship has developed modestly but steadily, mainly through trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges. Croatia's EU membership since 2013 connects it to the Korea-EU FTA framework, providing a legal foundation for expanded commercial ties. Korean interest in Croatia centers on its tourism potential, maritime sector, and access to Adriatic and broader European markets. Croatian interest in Korean culture has grown with the global K-wave, and the number of Croatians learning Korean has increased.

Bilateral trade between Korea and Croatia remains modest, with total trade at approximately $12 million in recent years. Korean exports of around $7 million include electronics, machinery, and vehicles, while Croatian exports to Korea of roughly $5 million consist of ships, aluminum products, and niche manufacturing goods. Trade volumes are expected to grow as Croatian manufacturers integrate more deeply into EU supply chains in which Korean firms participate.
