Korea and Norway have enjoyed over 65 years of diplomatic relations, with ties shaped by shared values of democracy, open trade, and multilateralism. Norway was an early supporter of Korea through the UN, and the two countries have deepened cooperation in maritime industries, energy (including offshore technology), and fisheries. Norway hosts one of Europe's largest Korean adoptee communities — approximately 6,500 people — whose presence adds a distinctive human dimension to bilateral relations. Political exchanges have grown steadily, and Norway is an active partner in Arctic governance forums where Korea has observer status.

Korea imports significantly more from Norway than it exports, reflecting Norway's role as a major supplier of seafood and energy-related goods. In 2023, Korean exports to Norway totaled around $465 million — primarily vehicles, machinery, and electronics — while imports stood at approximately $1.36 billion, led by salmon, other seafood, and industrial equipment. Norwegian salmon is among the most popular imported foods in Korea, a cultural and commercial connection that grows stronger each year.
